STS Summer Studentships 2024

Every year, STS aims to provide a range of summer studentships - paid work experience to allow STS students to develop their skills and CVs in related fields.

Undergraduate Degrees

STS is incredibly proud to support up a number of projects as part of the Departmental Summer Studentships 2024. These studentships are intended for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught students and听offer paid work experience in research and engagement.

This year鈥檚 Studentships include:

STS Newsroom Studentships
STS is also excited to renew听its commitment to offer听four paid studentships for work experience within the STS Newsroom, under the supervision of听Professor Joe Cain and Dr Jean-Baptiste Gouyon.

The STS Newsroom is a group of students, working one day a week for 10 weeks during Term 3 and slightly thereafter. They create news content about the department that will be used in the department鈥檚 outward communication. This will include written content for the STS magazine, Alchemy, and the STS podcast series, WeAreSTS. Mentoring will be available throughout the studentship.

Those wishing to apply for any of the听studentship opportunities must submit a one-page CV plus a one-page personal statement describing why they are a good fit for the specific project. In addition, please provide the name of one academic referee who can be asked to advise during the selection process. Applicants must submit a customised personal statement for each project they wish to be considered for.

Letters of application, CV and personal statements must be received no later than 17:00 (UK Time) on Wednesday, 20th听March. These must be sent by email to Victoria Mounsey: v.mounsey@ucl.ac.uk. Please include the word 鈥渟tudentship鈥 in the subject line of your email.
