The REF exercise is a major six-yearly evaluation of research outputs, research environment and research impact for university departments across the UK. In a change from previous exercises, mathematical sciences was assessed as a single unit, with a joint submission from the departments of Mathematics and of Statistical Science at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ being one of the 53 submissions to UoA10.

We are delighted to be among the strongest mathematical science groupings in the UK: we are 6th in the UK in the amount produced of world leading (4*) research publications, and 83% of our submitted outputs were judged to be internationally excellent (4* or 3*).
