Partnership with Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (SRC)

On 11 December 2023, the Joint Workshop, entitled 鈥淓nds of Empires: Crisis and Resilience in the Long Twentieth Century,鈥 was held at SSEES. The workshop was organized and moderated by Prof. Maria Rubins (SSEES) and Prof. Norihiro Naganawa (SRC).听

In March 2021, preliminary virtual meeting between the research-active staff at SSEES and Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (SRC) took place, where they shared information about current research projects and interests. Participants articulated trajectories of future collaboration and the partnership between SSEES and SRC, Japan鈥檚 national center for Slavic and Eurasian Studies at Hokkaido University, was created. Prof Maria Rubins (SSEES) and (SRC) are leading contacts.

On 5 July 2021, virtual Summer International Symposium was organised by SRC. The School was represented by Dr Seth Graham, who served as Chair and Dr Rachel Morley as Discussant of the panel 鈥楶re- and Post-Revolutionary Virtuality in Russian Culture鈥.

On 6 December 2021, the first听Joint Research Seminar entitled 鈥楻ethinking Slavic Area Studies from the Opposite Edges of Eurasia鈥 took place via Zoom and was moderated by Prof Maria Rubins (SSEES) and (SRC). Post-Soviet Area: Studies in the Age of Neoliberalism and Great Power Competition鈥. Prof Wendy Bracewell (SSEES) was a Discussant.听Prof Zoran Milutinovic (SSEES) presented his research on 鈥楲anguage and Literature in Area Studies: How to Understand Other Cultures through Literature鈥. (SRC) was a Discussant. 听
