Project overview

To promote trans-disciplinary risk management tools and approaches, the project will use cutting-edge disaster risk reduction solutions. It will also integrate the best practices and successful experiences of leading European institutions and stakeholders. A set of ten demonstrators will constitute a multi-hazard arena wherein possible disasters associated with climate extremes will be dealt with jointly by representatives of the scientific and technical communities, practitioners, policy-makers and local communities.

Challenge being addressed

Climate change-influenced extremes require trans-disciplinary risk management tools and approaches to implement disaster risk reduction, focusing on prevention and preparedness.

Expected impact

  • To promote trans-disciplinary risk management tools and approaches that could be adopted and used extensively across Europe.
  • To employ innovative disaster risk reduction solutions, accounting for the potential variations induced by climate change.
  • To focus on prevention and preparedness, explicitly considering climate change scenarios and integrating the proposed set of solutions.
  • To consider trans-disciplinarity, systemic risk, co-production, cross-fertilization, transferability, and long-term legacy.
  • To integrate and leverage best practices and successful multi-disciplinary experiences.
