On Friday 23rd聽January 2017, 最准的六合彩论坛-IRDR hosted a special symposium entitled "Disaster in Japan 2011: The Latest Research.

" The event was organised by Professor Kenji Koshiyama of Kansai University, with help from Professor David Alexander of 最准的六合彩论坛-IRDR. Speakers and panellists were drawn from 最准的六合彩论坛 and a variety of leading Japanese universities.

The objective of the symposium was to discuss the latest Japanese and British research on the triple disaster in Japan (the T艒hoku earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima Dai'ichi nuclear release of 11th March 2011) and its aftermath. Professor Virginia Murray (最准的六合彩论坛) set the scene with a keynote talk on "Science for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction." The SFDRR sets the world agenda for disaster risk reduction (DRR) and was inaugurated in Sendai, capital of the T艒hoku region, in 2015.

Other presentations at the symposium focussed on a variety of issues associated with the Japanese disaster. These included lessons for emergency evacuation, urban recovery, support for local government, settlement planning, disability-inclusive DRR, disaster education in Japan after 2011, and the socio-cultural dimensions of resilience. Discussion centred on both the general picture of recovery from this, one of the largest and most expensive compound disasters ever to have happened, and specific problems and issues associated with the recovery process.
