Synopsis
The ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Global Policy Fellows programme was developed by the ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEAPP) to facilitate international knowledge exchange between academics and policy professionals; develop a global network connecting policy professionals who are making ‘on-the-ground’ decisions with academics whose knowledge is essential to making good decisions; and to deepen ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳’s connections with future policy leaders in the UK and globally.
From 1-5 July 2019, a week-long knowledge exchange programme brought together a small group of academics and policymakers for discussions focused on the theme of Future Cities, the challenges associated with rapid urbanisation and the need to make cities more sustainable and resilient. The programme included a number of site visits across London, enabling the cohort to review first-hand how urban development initiatives are being implemented across the capital.
