The perception of motion is crucial for many everyday tasks, from picking up a pen to crossing the road safely. I am interested in how we develop the ability to perceive both motion and static objects and I study how sensitivity to different motion types develops in children. What happens when the development of these visual abilities to perceive motion and objects is atypical? To answer this, I investigate the visual, motor and cognitive abilities of children and adults with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Alongside teaching perception, I am involved in supporting academic skills development through the Psychology Writing Lab. We provide a range of resources and workshops to ensure that students develop the requisite writing and presentation skills to disseminate their scientific research.Â
