Description
This module will cover the theoretical, ethical and practical dimensions of qualitative and mixed methods research. Throughout the semester, we will ask what counts as rigorous qualitative research, and consider whether qualitative research is capable of both generating and testing hypotheses. We will grapple with ethical issues by asking who should get to study whom, and consider what happens when the line between researcher and participant gets blurred. Learning by doing is a course priority: we will identify and practise the skills you need to effectively undertake qualitative research, including the completion of ethics applications, the refinement of interview guides, and the analysis of original data. By the end of this module, you will understand a range of techniques for generating, organizing and analysing qualitative data.ÌýÌý
