Description

‘Perspectives on Global Health’ introduces you to global health by exploring the history of global health, the global disease burden, topical issues in health and development, and key interventions to improve health worldwide. At the same time, the module will help you understand how different disciplines - such as economics, political science and anthropology - think about global health.

After taking this module, you should be able to

  1. Describe major trends in the global burden of disease.

  2. Describe key dilemmas in global health and international development.

  3. Understand how different disciplines "think" about global health.

  4. Evaluate responses to a range of global health and development issues.

This is an introductory module for Year 1 students on the BSc Population Health Sciences programme. There is limited availability for ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ elective students from other departments. Places are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis on Portico when the module selection opens. Spaces are limited.
