Description

This module will explore the relational framework between global societies and media, and the technological mediation of experience. It will consider how different media forms – cinema, television, telephony, animation, factual news, LED screens and digital platforms – enable us to observe, perceive and analyse the world. Weekly lectures revolve around themed topics that help students engage with shifting attitudes, perceptions and ideas surrounding the communication of culture under media globalisation. The module brings students into discussions about the media’s role in forming, reproducing and dissolving forms of collective identity. It explores how these processes are both embraced and resisted.Ìý
