BA Media students NOTE: this module belongs to: ÌýPATHWAY 2: Critical Media with Games – an emphasis on theory, but with a through line of practical work in game, VR/AR/XR design running through Years 2 and 3. This pathway will follow the theory modules and all the practice modules in games and interactive media up to advanced level.Ìý PATHWAY 3: Media Practice – an emphasis on design in both Film and Games/VR/AR/XR, with options in critical theory to complement this. This pathway will follow all the practice modules in both film and games up to advanced level, along with selected theory modules.

Description

This module will provide an in-depth exploration of genre, fiction and storytelling and a fundamental understanding of image-text relationship in relation to games and immersive experiences. Building on Making the Media II, students will develop creative concept development, story development and game design techniques. Building on game studies, psychology of games and the analysis of games in relation to storytelling and immersion students will develop an advanced understanding of workflow from conceptual development to adaption and production. Students will develop a design concept and implement a working games prototype.
