Description

A literature-based project allowing final year BSc students to research, utilizing library resources, on a physiological topic offered by a member of staff in the Division of Biosciences or associated departments.ÌýStudents eligible for the module will be invited to submit applications for up to 5 projects, in order of preference. Students will then be allocated to a supervisor.

Your project will be written up as a scientific report to include a substantial and original review of published work and a discussion of its implications. You will also be expected to defend a poster presentation of their project.ÌýÌý

After taking this module you will be able to:

  • Plan and execute under supervision, a review of the scientific literature concerning a particular topic, Analyse critically the publications you find and draw valid conclusions from them.
  • Understand the level of uncertainty in published results and the significance of discrepancies in the literature
  • Communicate both orally and in writing complex scientific ideas, accurately and informatively.
  • Manage your own learning and to make use of appropriate texts, research articles and other primary sources.
