Applying to ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Medicine MBBS after the UPC

We don’t consider UPCSE applicants who want to apply to Medicine MBBS during the UPCSE year. On this page, you’ll find further guidance about applying for Medicine and ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Medicine admissions.

Competition for places at UK medical schools is fierce and government regulations have capped the number of places available for international students.

The Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for Science and Engineering (UPCSE) qualification is not acceptable for entry onto Medicine MBBS at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ and is not a suitable pathway to undergraduate medicine in general.

If you’d like to study medicine, there are three main options to consider.

  1. Study A-levels before applying for a bachelor’s degree (MBBS) in medicine. All UK medicine schools accept A-levels for entry.
  2. Apply to an integrated medicine foundation year or similar programme. You can find information about these programmes on the .
  3. Apply for Graduate Entry Medicine after fully completing an undergraduate degree. Please note there are very limited numbers of graduate medicine places available for international students. You can find further information on the .

Please note:

  • It is not possible to start another ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ undergraduate degree and then apply/transfer to Medicine.
  • ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Medical School does not consider students who fail to complete an alternative degree programme. This also applies to students who fail to complete a medical degree at any other medical school.
