New ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H policy on interventional procedures

×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H has revised its policy on the introduction of new interventional procedures.

The policy sets out the mandatory requirements which all ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H staff must comply with if they wish to introduce an interventional procedure that is:

  • new to ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H or
  • new to ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H and for emergency or compassionate use for named patients or
  • new to ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳H and pre-trial or
  • a major modification to an existing interventional procedure or
  • new site or new indication for an existing interventional procedure.

Clinicians must ensure compliance with this policy, and any clinicians introducing new interventional procedures without appropriate permissions and review will be referred to their clinical director for consideration of this issue during their formal appraisal.
