Research Theme 2022-23: Indigenous Ecologies and Environmental Crisis

Led by IAS Postdoctoral Fellows Dr Olivia Arigho-Stiles and Dr Adriana Suárez Delucchi

The Institute of Advanced Studies and ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Anthropocene convened this Research Cluster to support and explore the contribution of Indigenous ecologies to debates about environmental problems and crises.

Olivia Arigho-Stiles's and Adriana Suárez Delucchi's own research projects were at the heart of this interdisciplinary Research Cluster, which also involved colleagues from various ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ departments, including Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and the ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Health, Mind and Society initiative.Ìý

During their time at the IAS, Arigho-Stiles and Suárez Delucchi organised the two-day conference 'Indigenous Ecologies and Environmental Crisis' (8-9 November 2023) and invited participants to reflect about the opportunities Indigenous ecologies offer in response to overlapping environmental, economic, political and social crises.
