To join this event you must first (London Cluster), which brings together postdoctoral ECRs across the humanities and social sciences disciplines.

The ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ British Academy London ECR Network is kicking-off the academic year with a 1-day interactive session on ‘Writing applications for difference audiences’.

ECRs will gain practical skills to apply for a job, fellowship or promotion and you will be matched with another ‘ECR buddy’ to review each other’s CV, socials and profile, and give constructive feedback.

In the afternoon, you will be able to connect and network with a panel of British Academy Fellows and senior academics in charge of promotions who will share tips and insights.

Programme

  • 09:15-10:00: Morning tea/coffee and social meet & greet
  • 10:00-10:15: Welcome
  • 10:15-10:45: Dr Keri Wong, ‘Practical tips on how to tackle job applications’
  • 10:45-11:00: Coffee break
  • 11:00-11:30: ‘Buddy review’ of social media presence + CV
  • 11:30-12:15: BA Fellow Prof Nicola Miller, ‘Applying to fellowships and what not to do’
  • 12:15-1:00 - Coaching and what this involves
  • 1:00-2:00: Lunch
  • 2-3:00: Prof Mary Richardson, ‘Insights into promotions’
  • 3-3:15: Closing comments, BA funding, and upcoming events
  • 3:15-4:30: Drinks + networking
