Jihyun Lee

Jihyun has completed her PhD in Human Geography at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ under the supervision of Professor Johanna Waters and Professor Rachel BrooksÌý(2017-2021).ÌýShe was a Research Assistant at the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) (Summer 2017).

More about Dr Lee

Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked in Paris as a consultant for the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) at UNESCO (2015-2016).ÌýShe holds a MSc degree in Education (Comparative and International Education) from the University of Oxford (2014-2015). She is presently appointed as an Inclusivity Officer at the Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) Postgraduate Forum (2021-2022).

Teaching

Jihyun was a postgraduate teaching assistant for a core module ‘Issues in Global Migration’ for masters students in the Department of Geography and convened a Bourdieu reading group for students at different stages of their PhD based in the Institute of Education.

Research

Thesis: Going global? International students, UK higher education and the pursuit of an international career

Her doctoral research focused on how the meanings of international student mobility diverge according to the characteristics of individual students and different higher education institutions in the UK. She is interested in aspects of international/transnational higher education, mobilities and migration.
