Why Implant Dentistry?

Modern implant dentistry is constantly evolving and presents challenges that require new skills as well as meeting high patient expectations. A university-based training programme provides a sound basis for evidence-based training and education. Gaining new skills in implant dentistry provides a foundation to treat patients with dental implants and rewarding careers in Implant Dentistry.

Why Eastman?

Our course is for dentists with little or no experience in Implant Dentistry. It willÌýenable youÌýto diagnose, plan and treatÌýpatients whoÌýneed implant-supported restorations, andÌýbring implant dentistry into yourÌýpractice. Graduates gainÌýthe skills for dental implant case selection and planningÌýand to place and restore straightforward implant cases. The three-year MSc givesÌýyouÌýan opportunity to progress based on yourÌýindividual needs and interests.

Our programme has ranÌýsince 2007, evolvingÌýinto a full Master'sÌýdegree.ÌýStudentsÌýcan exit with either a Certificate, Diploma or Master's qualification as they completeÌýthe relevant modules.

We combine remote teaching with some face-to-face sessions. Remote teaching will consist of webinars and self-directed study. Face-to-face teaching comprises interactive lectures, seminars, hands-on training, live surgery and supervised clinical treatment (both surgical and restorative implant treatment). In the second year (diploma), you will be able toÌýtreat patients withÌýone-on-one specialist supervision.

Our clinical tutors are experienced GDC registered specialists in either Prosthodontics or Oral Surgery.ÌýYou will also benefit fromÌýinvited national and international speakers.ÌýIt’s advisable to have an experienced mentor to support you for cases in practice until you are confident to work alone. We can provide advice about mentoring when you start the course.
