Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry Certificate

A part-time, one-year Postgraduate Certificate that thoroughly explores the most important topics in aesthetic dentistry.

It is offered in two modes of study:

  • Part-time. Students attend on-site most Thursdays of the academic year, for interactive lectures in the morning and hand-on training in the afternoon.
  • Mixed-mode. Non-European, international students canÌýaccessÌýaÌý'mixed mode' study option. They attend lectures online on most Thursdays of the academic year alongside the part-time cohortÌýand complete the hands-on training on-site condensed over three week-long teaching blocks held in December, March and July.

Why Aesthetic Dentistry?

Interdisciplinary dentistry is one of the most popular and fulfilling dental fields. Current patient demands increase the needs for dentists to increase knowledge and skills in sound restorative options that result in natural looking rehabilitated dentitions.

Why Eastman?

TheÌýCertificate in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry has been a pioneering programme with an international reputation. It launched in 2008Ìýand has contributed to the career advancement of over 100 dentists from the UKÌýand abroad. It offers a thorough exploration of the most important topics of interdisciplinary aesthetic dentistry, and ample hands on training in skills lab and clinic.

The programme is designed for dentists who wish to remain at the cutting edge of contemporary dentistry, and to be able to meet and deliver with confidence, the restorative needs of patients with high aesthetic expectations.

Emphasis is placed on acquiring knowledge, understandingÌýand skills in the areas of aesthetic restorations, contemporary biomaterials plusÌýevidence-based clinical procedures and techniques.

Facilities

Teaching and Learning is achieved through lectures, step-by-step patient case presentations, ample hands-on training (in both skills laboratories and clinic), video demonstrations of clinical procedures, and textbook / current literature compilation (provided).ÌýThere is an excellent instructor-student ratio for the hands-on exercises.

°¿³Ü°ùÌýstate-of-the-art facilitiesÌýinclude two dedicatedÌýlaboratories for the production of patient devices such as fixed and removable prosthetic devices. There are five clinical skills laboratories containingÌý90 clinical skills stations equipped with dental manikins allowing trainees to practically and safely refine skills, andÌýwork in conditions that mimic real-life practice. Two of our suites are also equipped with dental microscopes to aid identification of anatomical imperfections and the quick detection of enamel and dentine fractures.

Visiting

The Aesthetic Dentistry Team welcomes enquiries and visits from prospective students. We are happy to conduct visits on an individual basis. A visit will enable you to meet the teaching team / current students and to see both the clinical and laboratory facilities. Enquiries should be made by emailing edi.admissions@ucl.ac.uk
