Aspire Award Undergraduate Scholarship

The Computer Science Aspire Award reduces financial barriers and create opportunities for students from Black or mixed Black ethnic backgrounds who are currently underrepresented in our department. We are making a commitment to two fully funded scholarships.

Value
Full tuition fees plus an annual allowance to cover living and study expenses (£20,000), for the normal duration of the programme at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳. All AspireÌýscholars will also receive on-going academic and career support during their study.

Eligibility criteria for 2024

Eligible candidates must meet all the mandatory criteria:

  • Based in the UK with home fee status orÌýbe a forced migrant (as defined by ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳)
  • be from a Black or mixed Black Ethnic background
  • have not completed undergraduate study either at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ or elsewhere previously
  • have accepted an offer of admission to study Computer Science BScÌýundergraduate, Computer Science MEng or Robotics and Artificial Intelligence MEng programmes for the 2024Ìýintake.

Additional eligibility criteria

Eligible candidates must also meet at least one of the additional criteria detailed below.Ìý

  • be in financial need as assessed by ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳Ìý(household income of less than £42,875)Ìý
  • receive (or were eligible for) free school meals
  • have a disabilityÌý(underrepresented groupÌýin Higher Education)
  • be a care leaverÌý(underrepresented groupÌýin Higher Education)
  • attend (or have attended) a low-performing school for either GCSE or A-level
  • live in a disadvantaged neighbourhoodÌý(we useÌýÌýand/orÌýÌýdata to identify levels of financial, social, economic or educational deprivation, as defined by home postcode)

How to applyÌý

On accepting an offer of a place on the Computer Science BScÌýundergraduate programme or Computer Science MEng programme orÌýRobotics and Artificial Intelligence MEng programme for the 2024Ìýintake, you will be able to apply for The Computer Science Aspire AwardÌýscheme.

Please complete this application by 22Ìý´¡³Ü²µ³Ü²õ³ÙÌý2024.

As part of the application process selected candidates who have met their ‘A’ level grade requirement will be asked to engage in a one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor FellowshipÌýto discuss anything else which you feel might support your application.

Dialogues will be conducted electronically via an appropriate method agreed between the Windsor Fellowship and applicant e.g. telephone, ZoomÌýetc.

They will be scheduled by the Windsor Fellowship after the A Level results are released by UCAS.

Ìýis supporting ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Computer Science in conducting the one-to-one dialogues that form part of the application process.

×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Computer ScienceÌýwill share the data of applicants with the Windsor Fellowship for the purposes of conducting these dialogues. By submitting your application you agree to ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳ Computer ScienceÌýsharing your information with the Windsor Fellowship.

Selection

The selection panel will assess your application based on the information provided on your online scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.Ìý
