Geraint Thomas, (Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, Division of Biosciences), has been successful in the Innovation Scholarship funding bid听and has been awarded 730K for a data science e-learning platform called 鈥淟earn听2 Discover鈥� (L2D).

L2D will be a collaboration across three parts of the Faculty of Life Sciences, namely: the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, the Department of Structural and Molecular Biology, and the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology, in conjunction with 最准的六合彩论坛 Research IT Services and Birkbeck.

This award comes 10 years after a similar investment in a project called 鈥溾�� which has so far made over 拢1M in CPD income for the university, which is used to support a small group of dedicated expert teachers (winners of a 最准的六合彩论坛 Provosts Teaching Award in 2015).

The new award allows for the expansion of the team to deliver both SysMIC and L2D. 听L2D will deliver training in data sciences and machine learning approaches to scientists and medics in academia, industry and healthcare sectors.
