Sustainability Education Award: The Institute for Sustainable Resources' new MSc Business and Sustainability team was Highly Commended

Sam Tang, Stuti Rawat and Paola Bertelli have all worked incredibly hard to deliver this new education offering, with the feedback so far being excellent.

The masters course, launched this year, explores how businesses can turn sustainability challenges into new opportunities and avenues for growth.

It develops responsible leaders of business, government and civil society, enabling them to identify and innovate solutions to address urgent sustainability challenges. Through a combination of traditional classroom-based learning and online resources, they participate in real-life business simulations and policy advocacy debates, as well as actively engage with business and sustainability case studies that will introduce and develop the complex reality of embedding sustainability in business.

Gold Award: BSEER Green Champion

The team - Valentina Riverso, Connor McDonnell, Oliver Broad, Mim Andrews, James O鈥橳oole, Anna Cornish and Argyris Oraiopoulos - exemplifies diversity, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds and expertise areas. From program administrators to research fellows, their collective knowledge and perspectives drive departmental commitment to sustainability.

Their efforts span various areas, including waste reduction and resource recycling, for instance they鈥檝e implemented the 鈥淛og On Donation Box,鈥 which prevents running shoes聽from ending up in landfills by either distributing them globally or recycling them. Recently, they secured access to a small outdoor space in Central House and plan to clean and plant in collaboration with Wellbeing Champions. At the faculty level, they鈥檝e aligned with emission reduction goals by working on a Sustainable Travel Area Policy and an energy demand reduction initiative in BSEER offices.

A massive thank you to all our BSEER staff and students who go above and beyond to make sure we put our research into practise and maximise our sustainable impact.
