Design Coding, Diffusion of Practice in England is a new report published by the Urban Design Group that revisits the use of design codes in England six years after the completion of a national design coding pilot programme which explored their use.
Researched and written by Prof Matthew Carmona and Valentina Giordano at ×î×¼µÄÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳’s Bartlett School of Planning, the report evaluates the diffusion of design coding as a tool in the planning and development process. The research comes at a time when the recently released National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) explicitly endorses their use by local planning authorities to help deliver higher quality design outcomes.
