About

The Bartlett presents a showcase of the latest work from Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, from their iconic new designÌýof the Lin’an History Museum in Hangzhou, China.

An ambitious project, across a meandering complex on the site of the childhood playground of former Wuyue king, Qian Liu (842 – 932), thisÌýproject is inspiredÌýby the notion of landscape. The site's plan and various interconnecting structures draw on the art of Chinese landscape painting and simultaneously respond to the natural and cultural setting.Ìý

The work displayed includesÌýinitial sketches, drawings andÌýphotographs of the site. There will also be VR headsets availableÌýto experience the museum site in virtual reality.


Biography

Wang Shu and his wife Lu Wenyu are founding partners of Ìýand teach Architectural Design forÌýthe School of Architecture at the .Ìý

Wang and Lu are working on a number of large scale projects across China and are the recipients of the The Pritzker Architecture Prize (2012), The French Gold Medal of the Academy of Architecture (2011) and The Schelling Architecture Prize (2010).
