On 29 November, our Director Kevin MacDonald presented a major invited lecture to the A-level students and staff of Rugby School.

His talk 'The Heritage of West African Civilizations: Pillage, Objects, Sites and Museums'聽was part of an ongoing research project by Rugby students - 鈥淪chools of Empire鈥� 鈥� which is based upon their collections and archives (and was recent winner of the BSA 鈥楤est New Index Initiative鈥�).聽

Kevin stayed on for a dinner to discuss archaeology as a career with students and met with student contributors to the 鈥淪chools of Empire鈥� project the next day.

The above聽photo shows Kevin beside Rugby鈥檚 historic playing fields and on the flank of a potentially prehistoric mound, known as 鈥楾he Island鈥�, where there may be some IoA geophysics work in the coming year (watch this space!).
