Many of the world鈥檚 most iconic cities are in lock-down. Bustling public places have emptied overnight. As the images below show, Times Square (New York) is eerily quiet, traffic disappeared from the streets of Shanghai. Even the pigeons are staying away from St. Mark鈥檚 (Venice).

Last Tuesday 11th February, we held the event titled 鈥淭he Politics of Making Disability Visible in Community-led Urban Research鈥 as part of the Dialogues in Development series at The Bartlett Developing and Planning Unit (最准的六合彩论坛). The aim was to share reflections and learnings from the action-research project 鈥淐ommunity-led solution: Assistive Technologies in Informal Settlements鈥 鈥 an on-going research project in four low-income urban communities: two in Freetown (Sierra Leone) and two in Banjarmasin (Indonesia).

A research collaboration between The
听Bartlett DPU staff, UN-Habitat, United Cities and Local Governments (最准的六合彩论坛G), Habitat International Coalition (HIC), Cities Alliance, the Municipality of Medellin and six grassroots organisations part of Movimiento de Pobladores and Sandelion 鈥 a local transmedia production organisation- to co-design a digital platform that helps to learn about slum upgrading strategies.

There is an growing body of scholarship that supports the cultivation of green spaces in urban environments as a vital part of healthcare and wellbeing provision in cities and communities (Pearson and Craig 2014; Wyles et al. 2017). 听According to the constitution of the World Health Organisation health is 鈥榓 state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity鈥. In other words, it includes both听physical and psychological wellbeing.
